Akhilesh began his career over three decades ago, focusing on advancing the use of Hindi on computers. With expertise spanning optical precision, typographical engineering, programming, and product design, he combines technical innovation with cultural insight. Known for bridging technology and language, Akhilesh delivers solutions that are accessible, functional, and uniquely tailored to user needs.

Following are his milestones:

1987  Started learning Computer Fundamentals & BASIC.
1988  Began learning C programming.
1989  Wrote a program on 'Gear Designing' in 'C'.
1990  Graduated in Industrial Engineering.
1991  Started providing DTP services & developing Software for Nagari [SurNeer].
1991  Wrote 'Sugam' (ISCII <-> Proprietary-Code Converter) in C.
1992  Developed a rudimentary bitmap PCL font editor in C.
1993  Started developing a small Dev-Nagari editor 'LeKhaNi' (Lekhni), and began learning Win GUI API.
1995  Designed a DevaNagari-Latin font, possibly the first Hindi-English font!
1996  Finalised version 1.1 of 'Lekhni'.
1997  Designed two more DevaNagari-Latin fonts.
1997  Discontinued providing DTP services.
1998  Continued with Software Development [Aditi Information System, Gondia].
1998  Finalised version 1.2 of 'Lekhni'.
2000  Learned Java.
2000  Provided computer education to about 200 students during last 3 years.
2001  Finalised version 2.0 of Lekhni
2002  Wrote notes on Saral Nagari etc.
2003  Began developing a Unicode-based OpenType font.
2004  Completed our first Unicode-based OpenType font.
2005  Developed Sugam 98 - for entering Unicode DevaNagari text in Windows 98!
2005  Hosted softfonts.com for selling our Smart Font/s (type software).
2006  Established an Optical stores.
2006  Finalised SuNāgarī - a keyboard layout for Indic Scripts.
2008  Developed _naagaree-128 - a transliteration scheme for converting DevaNagari text to Latin text.
2011  Hosted hindi.co ...
2012  Developed Nīrajā-Latin - another transliteration scheme for converting DevaNagari text to Latin text.
2014  Released newer versions of Sugam 2K, SuNāgarī.
2017  Started working on "Positionable Wheels For Moving Objects Over Stairs".
2019  Put developments on hold. Learning and doing something necessary!
2020  Resumed work on "Positionable Wheels For Moving Objects Over Stairs".
2022  Filed a provisional patent application on "Positionable Wheels For Moving Objects Over Stairs".
2023  PCT application based on above provisional application has been successfully processed by WIPO.
2024  Working on chashmewala.com .

The fonts and software designed by him do not contain odd or infrequent conjuncts. He devoted a significant amount of time to developing his preferences for Nagari. Read about 'Saral Nagari'!

He continued to develop LeKhaNi as an intelligent(!) interface for entering bilingual text in Nagari languages and English for several years. However, since 2002, he switched to a Unicode-based solution.
